How can I buy an artwork?

Unless indicated as “sold”, all items are for sale and available to purchase directly through the website. After you place an order, you will first receive an email acknowledging that order.

You can then click on the arrows on the right and left of the screen to discover all the artwork that you have previously filtered.

Can I see the artwork in a real environment?

We are working hard to get you the best possible discovery experience so that you are fully satisfied when receiving the artwork. For most artwork, when clicking on the “More Pictures” button, you will be able to see a picture of it digitally inserted in a real room, allowing you to assess proportions and have a first impression of it in a real room.
Also, in some cases, it might be possible to see the artwork at the artist' studio, please let us know if you would like to arrange a viewing by contacting us at contact@ideelart.com.

However, in some cases, depending on the artist and customer’s location we might be able to accommodate a viewing. Do not hesitate to contact us at contact@ideelart.com for more information.

Can I view in person more work from an artist?

Our aim is not just to sell art, but also to promote actively our Represented artists. By registering to our newsletter at the bottom of this page, you will be informed in advance of all material exhibitions organised by our Represented artists or their galleries. These news are also published via our RSS feed, so do not hesitate to use it to stay tuned. This service is not available for Exhibited artists.

Who do I buy from?

IdeelArt acts as an intermediary between artists and art buyers. All artworks displayed on IdeelArt are legally acquired by you directly from the artists. This ensures that the artwork you’re buying is 100% original. All artworks are signed and delivered with an invoice raised directly by the artist, providing you with an additional proof of authenticity.

What is the difference between “Represented” and “Exhibited” artist?

Represented artists are artists that we not only display on IdeelArt, but to whom we also provide a long list of digital representation services.

All the work available on IdeelArt from Represented artists is free from any shipping and insurance costs.

Exhibited artists do not benefit from these services, and shipping and insurance costs may be charged on their artwork (if they decide to charge them).

For more information on services provided to our artists, please check our SELL ART page.

How do I know if an artist is “Exhibited” or “Represented”?

This information is available on each artwork page, under "OTHER INFORMATION". When an artist is a Represented artist, it will also be mentioned on his/her page at the end of his/her biography.

SHIPPING, INSURANCE AND TAX

Do I need to pay shipping and shipping insurance costs?

If an artist is Represented by Ideelart, then shipping and shipping insurance are totally free. "Exhibited" artists can also decide to adopt our “Free delivery” policy, but they may also choose otherwise.

How do I know if shipping and shipping insurance are free?

Shipping (and shipping insurance) are free for all Represented artists. "Exhibited" artists can also have a free shipping policy. Free shipping (meaning both free shipping and free shipping insurance) is indicated on the top right of each artwork page.

How are shipping costs determined?

When shipping is not free (shipping and shipping insurance are free for all Represented artists), shipping costs are determined based on the weight of the artwork purchased, the artwork’s origin and the shipping destination. Shipping costs include all packaging and handling costs, but they do not include potential import duties and taxes which you may have to pay upon receipt of the artwork.

How can I assess shipping costs?

Shipping and shipping insurance are free for all Represented artists. To assess shipping costs on your order, you can refer to our Shipping Rates Table. Shipping costs depend on the location of the artwork, its weight (including packging), and of course your delivery address. The weight of the artwork (including packging) is displayed on each artwork page, under "OTHER INFORMATION". The location of the artist (where the artwork is shipped from) is mentionned on the artist's profile page.

To have a more precise estimate, put an artwork in your cart, and start the checkout process. Shipping and insurance costs will appear before you have to process to payment.

How are Insurance fees determined, how can I assess them?

Insurance fees are free for all Represented artists. Insurance fees are a small proportion of the value of the artwork. This may vary but is never more than 1% of that value, and is usually less.

What shipping carriers do you use?

All artworks sold on IdeelArt are dispatched directly from the artist and very occasionally from a gallery. We use professional carriers such as DHL, FedEx, UPS as well as fine art handling companies. The carrier selected will depend on the artwork’s origin, the shipping destination and any special packaging/handling requirements.

When will my order be shipped and delivered?

Processing and shipping times may vary according to the purchased artwork, its origin, and the shipping destination. Most orders are processed and shipped within a week. However, some orders may be processed faster, while others might take more time, particularly if they require special packaging or handling.

When your order is shipped, you will receive a shipment confirmation email with a tracking number. You can check the status of your package and the estimated delivery date online by using the tracking number.

Do I need to sign for my package upon delivery?

Yes, all packages must be accepted and signed for upon delivery. Due to the valuable nature of artworks, packages should not be left unattended, and we strongly advise you to check that the packaging of the artwork is in good condition before approving a delivery.

Do I need to pay import duities and taxes? How are they calculated?

If you are buying artworks from an artist based outside of the country where the artwork is delivered, you may have to pay import duties or taxes upon receipt of the artwork. You will be responsible for payment of those duties and taxes. Please contact your local customs office for further information before placing your order. Alternatively, you can use the following website to assess those taxes and duties: Dutycalculator.com.
