About this Artwork
The idea for this diptych came from the mathematical symbols < >, less than and greater than.
Audrey Stone was thinking about how styles of painting come in and out of vogue, at one time seeming very beautiful and then in another not so much.
As a parallel theme also thinking about aging, how young women/girls are in a time of life where their beauty is unquestionable and how as women age the perception of an older woman’s beauty becomes something that perhaps once was. And then, all of this is of course subjective.
